The Gold Rush Book Fair designated
Michael Good-Books of Woodacre, California
as its Honored Guest Bookseller for the
8th Annual Fair, which will be held held on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the Main Street Center Building on the Nevada County Fairgrounds, Grass Valley, California.
The Honored Guest Bookseller designation is awarded annually for “Ethical leadership and scholarship in American Bookselling”. Past designees have been William Reese Company of New Haven, Connecticut, The Arthur H. Clark Company of Spokane, Washington, Harrington Fine Books of Ivins, Utah, Michael D. Heaston
of Austin, Texas, Edwin V. Glaser of Napa, California, Michael Ginsberg
Books of Sharon Massachusetts and Ken Sanders Rare Books of Salt Lake
City, Utah.
The Honored Guest Bookseller occupies Booth #1 at the Fair.
“Michael Good has been a
mainstay of, and a credit to, the antiquarian book trade from his days
with Holmes Books of Oakland, John Howell of San Francisco, and for
years in his open shop in San Anselmo,California. With his talented
bookbinder wife Sandra, he now carries by appointment in Woodacre,
California, still representing the best of the profession", said John
Hardy, a producer of the Gold Rush Book Fair.
Michael Good currently owns
and operates Michael Good-Books with his wife, bookbinder Sandra Good,
by appointment in Woodacre, California. Michael worked for Holmes Book
Comapny in their San Francisco, and later manages the Oakland,
California Store. After several years working for Warren Howell of
John Howell Books of San Francisco, Michael and Sandra opened their shop
in San Anselmo, California. Michael and Sandra recently closed
their open shop, and now are open by appointment in Woodacre,
California. Sandra continues to repair and restore books by
assignment, working in both cloth and leather.
